The office

My current TV show obsession is The Office. ( U.S. version, you know, w/ Steve Carell). It's amazing how many things they can make humorous in that one setting, which in itself is NOTHING. There's so many recurring themes like Dwight's "volunteer" sheriff status, assistant TO THE regional manager, Michael throwing stuff, it's just hilarious!

O and heroes tonight. It's time to save the world!
Remember Chris shelton from last year? He had like 10 HR's in the first 15 games? yea, he spent the first part of the year in Triple-A ball and hasn't been back since. Other streaky players from last year that didn't wind up with great numbers: Jose Bautista, Corey Patterson. Moral of the story: Be careful w/ fast starters. Don't overpay!

NBA playoffs check : Bulls losing again? C'mon, guys! Heh, looks like my San Antonio prediction got off to a good start: They stole game one in Phoenix from the suns, and bloodied Steve Nash's nose in the process. My first guess as to who did that was Bruce Bowen. Not that that guy's dirty, but people who he guards have a wierd nack for getting into nasty injuries.........

Utah v. Golden State? I'm taking Utah..........I think Golden State just matched up really well w/ Dallas, and the NBA isn't kind to cinderellas. This one won't get very far. Can you imagine Golden State taking on Phoenix in a western conference final tho? Holy cow, there could be 300 points scored in that game.

Detroit vs. Bulls? I took Detroit in 7 in my league............i'll root for da bulls obviously but my head still says detroit in 7. Lebron and Cavs in 6 in the series that nobody really cares about.

Spiderman 3? Eh, worth your money, and it set a record for most weekend viewers. Go see it, but if there's one movie you gotta watch this summer in theaters i think it's Pirates of the Carribbean: At the World's end. or Harry potter if you're into that sort of thing.

The winner of the match, and the NEEEWWWWWWW......

For those of you who know me, you know that I am a pretty big WWE wrestling fan, I dunno how I developed it, but I was intrigued when my friends started watching it back in the Attitude era w/ the Rock, Austin, Mankind, and all them, but in January of 2006 I also started watching it religiously, and it hasn't worn out since then. I'm interested right now about how this money in the bank is gonna be used this time, w/ Mr. Kennedy.............Kennedy winning it recently at Wrestlemania 23. I really think there's a good chance he's gonna cash it in as soon as Batista beats the Undertaker in a steel cage match on Smackdown.

Anyway..........so the "raptors are extinct" in the NBA playoffs.......usually I'm not a big fan of ESPN's cliche's and those play on words, but I found that one to be somewhat appropriate, I didn't see the game in its entirety but caught R-Jeff's game-winning drive to the basket and I gotta say, he finally looks like he can actually PLAY basketball again after having a horrible regular season even after coming back from injury. The bosh play at the end was huge.

Bulls-Pistons tonight. Should be good. It'd be nice if the boys from Chi-town could go in to the palace and steal one. Pressure's on detroit at least for game 1.

I watched spider-man 3 last night. Not bad. They included 3 different villains and developed the story pretty well, I just think it was a mistake for them ever to cast Tobey Maguire as Peter Parker. Even when Parker was fumbling and making mistakes, he never looked THAT sniveling. And Topher Grace was Eddie Brock. C'mon. Bleh. But the action scenes were good. I dunno if there's gonna ever be another Spiderman movie in this series? The ending seemed to suggest there is.

Shane victorino went 3-4, 1R, 2 SB's last night as my waiver-wire pickup. Heh. This after going 0-9 for me in a similar recent-pickup role for me earlier in the season.

I'm all but out of that NBA fantasy competition w/ Chris Bosh pulling a dud in Game 5, not very great games for me the last couple.........we'll see if my champion pick of San Antonio goes anywhere.

Fantasize on,

Robert Yan

Finals week

I got an exam on Friday but I'm writing here just to kill some time, wait for the laundry to dry.......

Anyway, I'm really getting into this Yahoo! winners league I'm in...........i could say i'm certifiably addicted, although i know at some point i'll get tired of it, but that's a long ways away. So today i spot-started Oliver Perez and he put up 5.2 IP, 1ER, 10K's. TEN strikeouts! That's huge cuz in fantasy K's are just as important as any other stat. O did i mention he got the win too? Chris capuano shoulda gotten the win but he had to come out of the game after 3 w/ the lead........why don't more people get this guy? He's so solid........18 wins in 2005? C'mon peeps. That woulda won the CY Young last year.

NBA? Not a very busy night tonight.......San Antonio finished off Denver in 5 at home...........Phoenix is about to do the same to LA....I was wrong about dallas winning game 4 the other night.........ate my words, they were down 3-1 but came back to barely squeak one out AT HOME to golden state. That game 6 in oakland is gonna be HUGE. It's so tough to win on the road there.......Dallas's dream could end.

NBA playoffs

Finals week coming. Gotta study. AAHHHHH!!!
I got dodger tickets against the chicago cubs for the family and I. Pretty smart move on my part, I think, getting them cheaply over at dodger stadium where hopefully we can move up if it's not capacity whereas it'd be standing room only at wrigley.

In the NBA playoff game that I'm in, I can't seem to stay consistent. I'm doing okay, I guess, 93% of all the nba.com players, but have had some bad performances.........lamar odom 20pts ( this is including pts, rbs, assts), baron davis 29 pts, vince carter 26 pts. I've also had just insanely good nights w/ carlos boozer putting up 59, kobe w/ 57, etc............eh whatever, because the main concern is.......

The Bulls swept the Heat! Yea, they did it! Going into the series w/ the heat being the defending champs and all, i gave the bulls like a 60-40 chance of winning it. But did they ever win........every game i saw they battled back and really put the clamps on the heat in key stretches. It wasn't even like last-second shots mattered in this series. The bulls had the game going into the last minute in every one. Pistons next.

Lakers are done. 3-1 to the suns. They need to rebuild next year if they wanna keep kobe/phil.

Spurs + nuggets? I stuck to the spurs even after game 1 loss, and they're rewarding me. They'll be fine.

Golden state is just giving dallas everything they can handle. It'll be 2-2 after tonight, but still.......i'm very surprised. Dallas should be worried.

That jason bay trade from last week WAS vetoed. However, that j-roll trade's not looking QUITE as good after j-roll had a great week, highlighted by TWO stolen bases today. Urg. This better pan out over the course of the year................

Da Bulls

Bulls win! Bulls win! Chicago's up 2-0 on defending champs Miami Heat.

Picked Carlos Boozer Monday night in that aforementioned drive to playoffs league. He picked a good night to go nuts, going 41-16-2. Wow. Picked Lamar Odom in Game 2 in Valley of the sun tonight.

I think San Antonio will be fine vs. Carmelo and the nuggets. I think either they or the mavs will take this w/ the rockets as the dark horse. That being said, the suns will prolly be celebrating in june.

Traded Jason Bay and Tom Glavine for Felix Hernandez. Probably a hasty trade on my part. It's still pending, i vetoed it myself. Heh. Carl Crawford tonight: 4-4, 2 R, 1 HR, 4 RBI, 1 SB. Niiiiiiiiice.

Chris Bosh has a chance to be in that group of great 2003 draft studs, including carmelo, d-wade, and lebron. He needs to win that series vs. New Jersey. They took a step tonight by beating them, albeit barely.

PLAYOFFS?

Heroes coming back on Monday at 8PM. NNNIIIIICCCEEE........................Very nice Survivor episode on Thursday, btw, the internet's buzzing about it. I'm a big televisionwithoutpity.com fan. Check it out.

In head coaching quotes there's one that stands above the rest: "PLAYOFFS? You talking about PLAYOFFS? You kiddin' me, PLAYOFFS?" Haha, the great Jim Mora Jr.
But yes, all Game ones in the NBA Playoffs have been played, and boy, were there some surprises......First off, I joined an NBA.com fantasy league called "march to the finals" where each day of the playoffs you pick one player who picks up a point each for every point, rebound, and assist that night. Pretty interesting. It makes you pick players from teams you think will LOSE early so you don't want to lose the opportunity of picking them. Day 1 I bombed w/ VC Carter, but tonight i think i did well w/ carmelo. Except their teams both won game 1, which could be a problem if it's a trend for the series.

BIG upset of the night: GSW goes to Dallas and just shuts them down. Wow. Not even in 121-119 fashion neither, Coach Don Nelson and his crew went in to Big D and Mark Cuban's house and just clogged them, didn't watch the whole game but B-diddy was impressive. That series could get interesting.

Luol Deng led Bulls over heat. Nice, well-fought game. Should be same way rest of series. I have San Antonio winning the championship, but they didn't start well w/ a loss @ home to Nuggets. No worries, they did the same thing two years ago and went on to win. Detroit should just absolutely DESTROY orlando as they did yesterday. Don't see magic winning a game in that series.

NBA season winding down

I'm gonna resist the temptation to write about baseball just yet cuz i'll have plenty opportunity to do so for months.........

I will say, though, that in my winners yahoo league i am excited about trading j-roll and adam dunn AWAY in return for carlos zambrano and carl crawford. I'll accentuate later.

Al Jefferson was supposed to pack it in for the season, but he decided to come back and dominate just to put a cap on a great breakout season for the dude. This guy has some talent. Boston actually beat miami IN south florida tonight. Wow. Does Boston want Greg Oden or not? Well, maybe Al-Jeff wants to prevent that from happening because he looks like the PREMIERE big man on that team for years to come.

ricky davis took over for k-g the last 2 games and just dominated. That guy has talent......imagine if garnett left next year.

hold up on the tracy-grady news. I might have spoken too soon. Tonight he went OFF against New Orleans in a loss, but his fantasy stats were amazing and have been really good in the 2nd half. So maybe i won't DRAFT him next year, but i'll trade for him at mid-season.

Quiet fantasy hero for those in the playoffs: Nene Hilario. Guy was a beast. It's cuz he can really play.

Tarence Kinsey was a late-season must-add that paid off for a lot of owners.
So was gerald green.
AS was earl watson before he got hurt. Everybody on seattle seemed to be hurt at some point this season........rashard lewis, ray allen, ridnour, watson............let's not even get into their big men. Altho Nick Collison wasn't too bad.

Luol Deng got rid of his 3-pt shooting this season, but his mid-range game is SO fine.

Ben Wallace and AK-47, two defensive juggernauts, didn't turn out so great this year.

Props to some really consistent guys who had typical years, like owners expected: Tony Parker, Manu Ginoblli, andre miller, steve nash, shane battier, rafer alston, there's definitely others on this list.
